Flymount supplies the world’s best action camera mounts. Designed with predominantly watersports in mind there are also plenty of additional applications if you get creative. But which mount should you be looking to purchase? This buyer’s guide breaks down who and what each of Flymount’s action cam mounts is suitable for.

Windsurfing and Flymount.

Windsurfing is the original discipline the brand and products were created for. As passionate sailors, we wanted an efficient and trusted way to attach action cameras to our windsurfing kit. The Original was born. And although now a much more efficient product it still has the same characteristics as the original prototypes.

Wing foiling applications.

Wing foiling is one of the newest watersports kids on the block. And we’re big advocates of the sport. Being some of wingsurfing’s early adopters we quickly spotted an opportunity for mounting GoPro and Insta 360 action cams to wings. So we set about designing and bringing to market a suitable product. Pretty soon the Aero 130 was born, which is a unique one-of-a-kind wing foiling mount. You can also attach the Aero 40 to a wing boom or handle. Our mounts are nothing if not versatile!

We do kitesurfing too!

Whilst the Aero 130 was designed with wing foiling in mind its unique large clamping mechanism with fit the leading edge of many kites. After all, wing design and inflatable kitesurf kite design aren’t too dissimilar. This dual purpose gives additional versatility, and therefore more bang for buck, as far as the Aero 130’s concerned. If you want a kiteboard mount, for a different angle, then we also supply these.

Paddle boarders apply here.

Stand up paddle boarding has always been an accessible watersport. Many indulge – even those who practise other disciplines. There’s the high performance side, of course. Paddle surfing and SUP racing all have their fair share of participants. But it’s the recreational side of the activity that holds the appeal. And as with everything, there are plenty of riders who fancy capturing that paddle boarding action. Step forward the Original and Aero 40. Both mounts can be affixed to a paddle shaft and be used (in some ways) like a selfie stick. Check out this article for more tips on shooting stand up paddle boarding.

Surfers are also welcome.

As with many watersports and action sports riders will make things work regardless. We’ve said before but we’re blown away often by the ingenuity of how some customers use their action cam mounts. Whilst not designed to shoot surfing per se those with a ‘can do it’ attitude manage to nail the goods. Using a selfie stick it’s possible to capture all that surfing good stuff. Which is something we talked about in this article.

Skateboarding action with Flymount.

Another action sports discipline you wouldn’t instantly associate with Flymount is skateboarding. We’ve played around with skateboarding mounts here at Flynmount HQ on several occasions. Meanwhile, others have taken things further and utilise Flymount mounts for all kinds of skateboarding shots and videos. In this post there’s talk of how to affix your Flymount to static objects which you then ride past, thereby capturing all that awesome action. The Aero 40, Original and even Aero 130 all work when shooting skating. You may just have to get creative with your mounting options. Find out more about shooting skateboarding with Flymount here.

Flymount for the kayaking win!

Kayaking – or more specifically sit on top kayaking – isn’t something you’d assume Flymount fits. Yet, with the tubular shaft of the paddle, plus mounting points on the kayak’s deck, you’d be surprised what you can achieve. Some sit down paddlers we know have also ‘engineered’ they’re own ‘uprights’ for attaching Flymount action cam mounts. It’s this ingenuity we keep banging on about and salute wholeheartedly. The Kiteboard mount would also work if you’re happy to stick it to your boat.

BMX riders we got you!

When testing Flymount prototypes and products we’re always keen to see what can be achieved. We’ve worked with a few different riders from disciplines not instantly associated with our brand. BMX champ Braden Bradford was one such individual who was tasked with using Flymount mounts to capture his awesome BMX antics. With a bike from being perfect for attaching one of our mounts we were super stoked with the results. You can find out more about this here.

Motorsport action.

There are lots who indulge in a spot of motoirspoirt during their free time. This can be anything from motocross to go karting and grass karting. Back a few years we showcases Flymount mounts in use for an episode of Top Gear. The Stig was filmed using Flymount  mounts and GoPro action cams during a grasstrack race. Drums – how random!

Now this is an odd one. But like we keep saying: ‘where there’s a will there’s a way’. We know of one drummer who regularly shoots footage of him playing with his trusty Flymount. The tubular design of cymbal stands means Flymount action cam mounts affix perfectly. GoPros or Insta 360s can then be angled to shoot POV style or turned towards the rest of the band (if you play in one). This can be a low cost way of nailing gig footage – either photos, video or both. And it shows once again just how versatile Flymount products are.
